Does size matter?

For paintings, you think...

- Good things come in small packages

- The bigger the better

- Medium is good

- Too big and you might get stuck

- Tiny with lots of detail for me

- Large things are easier to see from a distance

It depends on what kind of art you are creating. Big painting will take large space, won't fit in my bedroom.

I agree with Pout C. It really depends on what kind of project you're working on. With some work, you want to make an impact and so a large size is probably more suitable for it. On the other hand, sometimes the smaller, more simplistic things have more impact than the huge, obnoxious ones..

For me personally, it always starts with the sketch, the idea. From there, while the ideas and design progresses, I decide what size would be suitable for it and then I start working on the final piece (though sometimes in the end I might realize it would be better either smaller of bigger and I'm gonna have to do it all over again! But that's all part of the creating process right!? :))

That's cool - you explained it so nicely. Do you also usually tweak the size to suit the preference of the customer?

For me, I am comfortable with the small sizes between A4 and 18 x 24 inches. If I happened to exhibit my works someday, I would paint and work on the larger sizes :))
