Finding my innver voice : more paintings

Tuesday, 2 October 2012 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
I have been painting painting painting. I am taking Wyanne's Paint Free art class as I told you in the previous post.  I have reached week two assignment, the second 30 minutes I just painted (left) and I felt really happy.  When I was little girl, I played with the coconut tree branches in front yard.  I tried to catch up the playful mood, colors and weather in this painting.

I just cannot stop painting mindlessly. I just put the colors on the palette what I like the most. And started to paint it with different brush stokes. Then my imagination lovely house was suddenly came into my mind... I also didn't expect to get the result of flowers like textures surrounding the house.  I learned to paint a little more with my heart. Really happy with it!
I still keep painting. This is the latest one I did yesterday.  I trust in myself more and more doing these exercises and moving mindlessly.  I used all available brushes I have.. even my fingers!  I feel more friendly with the colours and I like to use bright and strong colours.  I named it "BeBrave", this process is really exciting!

Finding my own voice

Monday, 17 September 2012 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

Well I am now taking Wyanne's Paint Free art class and I'm really enjoy this. The above painting was taken from her week 2 assignment, painted it for 30 minutes.  I tried not to come over any thoughts to my brain while painting this.  Ah, just need to focus on the flow of strokes and the painting process.  Sometimes my imagination of the beach where I really want to go was came and pop up to my mind.  But I just need to concentrate on the flow of my hand!! "Don't think about any of it" that's what i told myself.  When I was doing this, I feel like I was watching myself. The hands were moving automatically on the canvas without thinking. This was so much FUN!!! After 30 minutes times up, I walked away from the desk, I didn't go back and add to the painting.

The next day, I get back to look at my work again.  Oh I don't like the colors.  I thought I was creating the beach!  But now I see the river, a big mountain, flowers and clouds in the painting. My dear husband's perspective is a bit different of mine.  He sees the three guys are boating, and the two guys wearing the blue hats.

I really enjoyed the process.  And I realized that finding my own voice is not too difficult.  I will definitely paint like this and let myself free again.

Sweet Memories

Sunday, 16 September 2012 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

Hello, how are you doing?
I’ve been working on the new design of my website, and blog for the last week and I finished it yesterday. Do you like it? You can visit it by clicking on this link : www.shwethirikhit.com

And I am happy to show you my new mixed media work!  The cat in the painting is my neighbor, he is living in front of our flat.  He is really fat and round like a balloon, so  my husband and me call him Lone Lone.  He sleeps in his little garden under the sunlight as always.  I am enjoying watching him because he seems very peaceful to me and make me smile :)  So I put him into my painting!

The whole painting is very colorful but also the girl's skin and the lazy cat is in black and white (gray scale).  I am really enjoy painting portrait in black and white and adding tone details on the face.  They are getting along well with the messy background.  Hope you enjoy watching the creative process videos (above).  I call it "Sweet Memories".

It will be available in the gallery for you to purchase.  Contact me if you have any question.

She is in gray scale but I put these colourful paints for the background with the excitement feelings. You can feel the contrast colours in between realism, textures and doodle lines.

Splashes & Scratches in Black

Saturday, 14 January 2012 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

I managed to play with 'black' and came up with this lovely illustration.  It was quite a light task with simple shapes.  You see, the two characters in the illustration represent me and my hubby.  My hubby looks like a Ninja Cat since I played with 'black' colour and it makes a good Ninja or a Panda.

The title I came up was quite funny.  I thought it'll be a good word play to combine the sounds that a fish and a cat will make, splashes and scratches. I really love this illustration and we are going to put this into postcards (I will try to make a mass production T-shirts as well).  Feel free to send me a message if you  want a set for yourself :)

Mini art course will be launched in March

Friday, 13 January 2012 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
I am doing really cool stuff in preparation of the upcoming course.  To suit the interest of many of my friends, I have planned the programme to combine different mediums.  Consequently I have to postpone the Pretty Portraits Course.  Instead, I would launch Tragimixed, which is a happy combination of digital art and mixed media.  It will be a mini course and will be launched in March.  I know... I'm a bit slow but stay tuned for updates :)

Oh I forgot to show you the birthday present for my cat. He's a cute boy.
I'm working on a batch of new journaling pages for 2012. I have so many more ideas that I want to turn into textures and collages. I'll have a busy weekend :)

X mas girl

Monday, 5 December 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

It's time for X mas yay! I like the colours of this season, the palette of white, grey, green and especially RED.  I've created a new digital artwork for the x mas cards which includes my usual character. I like to draw daily in my sketch book, and I just cannot stop sketching the portraits of girls.  At the same time I have been creating several small paintings these days, each piece needs to be finished touches. I'll be sharing more with you. Stay tuned!

Glimpses of Growing Up

Watch how I paint a portrait by adding tone details, colours, and make-up from a mini girl face.

Glimpses of growing up

To celebrate "Day of the Dead", the Mexican Halloween day, I created a beautiful portrait and painted Sugar Skull on her Dollie's face.

Magic is Everywhere

Friday, 7 October 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
(Version-1)

I just finished another piece for Halloween theme "Magic is Everywhere"- this one is reproduction of my older work "Happiness in Silent". The style of artwork is not fully realism but blend with graphical and mixed media style. The image looks so striking when they are well played within contrast of realism and messy style. A lot of stamps! stamps! Actually in this artwork, I wanted to collage some vintage photos as well. Hmm It seems like I'm a greedy one, and want to add so many things as possible as I can... However it was very fun project to do. I'll be creating more and developing my style in anyway :)

(Version-2)

She will be available for sale at my Etsy, come and get her!

Spooky Night

Thursday, 29 September 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

This artwork is to celebrate our favourite festival, Halloween, yay.  You can see the girl gathering sweets from house to house with her ‘trick or treat’. But she doesn’t seem to be too generous in sharing her candies so she is going around solo.  Now that she’s alone on her way to the next house, she is feeling scared and who knows what’ll happen next!

I put special emphasis on her facial features and am totally happy with the final look of her face.  The colour combination of the girl makes a good striking contrast with the background.  She can surely complete your Halloween decorations – by making your wall looks interesting to you and your visitors.  Find the print on Etsy. Catching Fireflies

Friday, 23 September 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

I've joined a new club on DeviantArt.com which is only for children illustrators. I managed to play it with Photoshop for this monthly topic "Night Creatures"  [link].

It's getting into the autumn spirit! My favorite colour, Halloween is around the corner and I feel like a bit kinda spooky but the colour of leaves from my surroundings will not going to change.  Mr. Owl has a cute spouting face that is looking at the girl and I also love the way she is just trying to catch the fireflies no matter what...  Sometimes I love to illustrate my mini girls and owls because it's fun and let me have some more freedom.  I tried to mix some textures to get an interesting messy mixed media style. You can watch the following youtube video showing how the artwork was created in simple steps. Enjoy ~

You can find the print on my etsy shop at [link] .

I'm back

Sunday, 4 September 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
Apologies for not blogging regularly as much as I wanted to. I have been occupied with course materials for the course I run for the previous weeks.  Now I am back and active again with more activities lined up for my blog.  My first course, Sweetened Simplicity as a live course is completed and now it is available as a self-study programme.  It has been a successful course and I was overjoyed with activities from course participants.

Another thing I was so happy about is that some of the participants created even prettier artworks than I did.  So nice to be together with creative people.  I also enjoying to create collage style in both traditional and digital art. So I think I'd like to share with you my newest digital mixed media creations which are created in Photoshop.

The interesting collage background of Dancing Shwe will be up soon.

This piece is still untitled. I absolutely love her face.

Oh one more good news.  In upcoming months, there’ll be free tutorials and tips that I will share with all of you.  There are still many many cool things I want to do with you.

The Nightly Hunt

Thursday, 3 March 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

Inspiration, imagination, innovation, energy and love are all important aspects for me when I create art. I keep discovering and developing my inspiration deep inside each artwork.

"The Nightly Hunt" is mixed media artwork which is combined with drawing and watercolour on paper. Artwork size is 8 x 12 inches. You can see that I drew her face, skin and outfit with colour pencils. The foreground has more details in textures compared to the background. It looks so striking when they are well played within contrasts of pencil textures and watercolour blurry effects. I've really enjoyed the energy creating this piece which made me feel overwhemingly delighted.

Freedom byself forself

Sunday, 13 February 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
My appologies for not updating the site this lately because I had a problem with Internet a few past days. I have recently finished a new oil painting is called "Freedom Forself Byself", size is 24 x 36 inches. When I sketched for this painting, I felt kinda some freedom of myself, my soul or the inner side. And I've got inspiration from In the dark by The Birthday Massacre. Please go to the previous post Splash and Smoke effects on oil painting, if you'd like to read about the W.I.P. of this painting.

Arty Exercise : Beauty brewed with mystery

Saturday, 29 January 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

This piece is one of my excercise-works which is totally different from usual artworks because I've always seeking myself, exploring and developing my style. So I will add this to studies section of my gallery. Actually I really wanted to add dark background something like pupple but it goes light and warm. I don't know why I put red and yellow colours to the pallet.. May be a new feeling came from my unconscious mind that automatically shows when I created this. Size is 8.7 x 12.2 inches.  The included materials are marker, pencils, and acrylics, signed and dated by the artist. Its available on this link.

I'm also having a new inspiration from http://www.myspace.com/paganfolk

The Gate Guardian & Miss Muddy

Friday, 21 January 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
Yesterday, I was playing on this tiny mixed media work which is dark, dirty, messy and mysterious. She's "The Gate Guardian" (left), size of the work is 8.2 x 11.6 inches (A4).

It included different forms of medium:  ink, colour pencils, crayons and acrylics. When I’ve done the sketch, I added white and black into the water pallet to create the dirty grey colour. A touch of brown paint was included too.   And I’ve tried to paint to get an effect that’s similar to the flowing of water, smoke and splash effects on the background.

Then you can see that I painted her face and skin with watercolour pencils, mixed with white acrylic paint and afterwards more watercolour pencils applied after the base was dry. The foreground is richer and thicker in textures compare to the background. It was painted with acrylic to give a poster style look.

The whole painting has completed with lots of black and white paint splatters, to give a dirty look. The finishing touches were done with gloss varnish.  The colours are vivid and gorgeous! The paper is not a typical water colour paper.

Well,, I was experimenting on this mixed media project. I wanted to apply the effects on the paper first before I do it on the canvas because currently I'm working with the oil painting and I hope to use these smoke and splash effects on the background of my new painting.

And ...
Miss Muddy"

Here,,, I almost forgot to share you another experimented mixed media work I've created which is called Miss Muddy (above). She also has a dark theme, dirty and messy style look similar with The Gate Guardian.

Now this original work is available here.

Filled with Love

Saturday, 15 January 2011 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit

On the Valentine's Day, people think about love, talk about love, talk with loved ones and in general feel loved and loving.  This digital art is dedicated to those who are filled with love received from their loved ones and those who are filled with self-love, both of which I think are important.  I was also motivated to illustrate this after feeling loved by all of you who have expressed your love and kindness towards me.  :)

lots of love,
Shwe-Khit
