Etsy Selling Tips

Friday, 3 February 2012 - Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
Hello everyone,
I saw this thread and thought I would start a discussion on Etsy selling tips, if anyone has any>?  I've sold some stuff on etsy but never to a degree that makes it worth it.  My friend told me to add my items slowly each day so that my newly added items show up on the main browsing page more often.  That was pretty great advice.  Also what are good ways to advertise your etsy store?  I have loads of handicrafts and creations waiting to find a loving home.  I cant wait to share and see all of your creations as well!  What about a craft trading forum where we can trade and share our creations?  hmm,
Have a lovely day!

Fear of a blank canvas

Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
I just wanted to know and here are some questions for you ....

How can one overcome the fear of a blank canvas?

For example: A blank canvas is bought for the purpose of painting. A few days after purchasing the canvas, fear can grow day by day just by looking at that white blank thing! It takes long time and quite an effort to just start an outline. Then suddenly you gain momentum and the flow becomes smoother.
Have you come across such an experience? Do you think the size of a canvas has a role in triggering this fear? What sizes are the most comfortable size for you?

How to grow your unique art style?

Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
Hello lovely people,

I am an art student.  Although having started not long, I have already drew and painted many.  I am sure I will carry on painting and learning more ways to paint.

There are a number of artists whom I like.  I try to paint like the way they do and now I feel like I cannot get out of their influence in terms of style.  And I am finding it difficult to have my own style.  So I would like to know if anyone can share how to venture into a new unique style.  Looking forward to ideas and inspirations.

Thank you!

DO YOU EVER GET FRUSTRATED OVER YOUR ART

Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
So I don't know, if this belongs in forums or blogs, however, since this is an artist community, I thought, it would be a great place to ask.

DO YOU EVER GET FRUSTRATED OVER YOUR ART, doubt it all and wonder if it is the right thing to do?

I mean I love my girls and bunnies and boys, but sometimes I feel they are too cute and nothing but that. I wonder then, if I shouldn't be painting something completely different, something more adult, something with more content... I also love working digitally, but I also paint with oils and draw/sketch quiet a bit. I am also thinking, that I should probably decide on one medium rather then going back and forth... Also my work was featured in a magazine and they talk about the big heads and the stare and on and on... But does that mean now, that this is my style and I have to stick with it...?

So my question really is not, what you think about my work and what I should do, it's more that I would like to know, if it is normal to question your work so much, get frustrated over it and doubt your style, if you have one..... I need some artists' input here....
So your thoughts on the subject are very much appreciated.

How long does a digital artwork take for you to complete?

Posted by Shwe Thiri Khit
I am recently working on new digital artwork creating in Photoshop which is taking too long and I keep adding more extra details. But now I lose my interest so I guess I need to go faster and may be simpler?

I am just wondering how long does it usually take for you to complete a digital artwork?

1-3 hours (or) 3-5 hours (or) 5-10 hours (or) more?
I wish I could finished a piece in just one or two days.
